Not only is the Nussbaum family happy, but so are the cows, evidenced by the increased production with a few giving more than 100 pounds of milk a day. Six months after starting operations in their robotic dairy barn built from scratch – and after literally thousands of visitors from around the world – the Brad and Monica Nussbaum family is happy with their new facility near Garretson, S.D.

Most of all, of course, they’re happy about their steady increase in milk production.

“Every milk pickup from the first one back in March to today’s has been an increase,” Monica said.

That’s what the Lely company promised in their sales pitch.

“It’s true,” she said. “It’s like promising a car that offers a smooth ride, and this has.”
